How Complete Lockout Works

iOS can reset your Screen Time passcode with your own iCloud password, even if you never set up recovery. Complete Lockout blocks that reset by putting a burner account in the recovery slot.

How it works

  1. 1 Generated WaitToUnlock creates a strong random password. You use it once, to create a fresh Apple Account at account.apple.com.
  2. 2 Locked away You hit the lock button. The password is now encrypted at rest and out of your reach, same as your passcode.
  3. 3 Shown once During guided passcode setup, it's revealed briefly at the recovery screen so you can link the burner account.
  4. 4 Locked again After setup it's stored encrypted again. Forgot Passcode? now asks for a password you don't know.
